The Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Edem Kofi Kpotosu, has expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in sexual abuse cases involving students within the municipality.
His remarks follow a recent report by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), which revealed a disturbing increase in incidents of sexual misconduct targeting students.
Describing the situation as “deeply troubling,” the MP pledged to support victims in their pursuit of justice. He announced that he would personally cover the cost of legal proceedings and rehabilitation programs to ensure that survivors receive both justice and proper care.
“I am committed to ensuring that every affected student gets justice and the necessary support to rebuild their lives,” Mr. Kpotosu stated.
Meanwhile, the Ho Central Municipal Director of Education, Esther Yeboah-Adzimah, has issued a stern warning to male teachers to desist from engaging in any form of sexual misconduct with female students.
She also cautioned female students to maintain appropriate boundaries and avoid initiating improper relationships with teachers, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and professionalism in the school environment.
Both the MP and the Municipal Directorate of Education are calling for stronger collaboration among parents, educators, and law enforcement agencies to safeguard students and promote a safe and supportive learning atmosphere in the Ho Central Municipality.
