The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah has expressed his complete displeasure at the actions of the Ghana Police Service towards students of the Ghana School of Law during their demonstration on the 7th of October, 2019.

Speaking in an interview with Happy FM’s Nana Afrifa Mensah on the “Epa Hoa Daben” show he said: “I condemn acts by the police on law students. Their mandate is to maintain law and order. They were supposed to guard the demonstrators not intimidate them”.

He also called for a committee to be set up to probe into what ensued between the Police and Law students during the demonstration that took place on 7th October.

The demonstration by the Ghana School of Law on Monday was marred by violence as Police fired at protesters with rubber bullets and showered them with water from their canons. It has been reported that the violence broke when the Police accused protesters of not obtaining the license to protest and also using the wrong route for demonstration.
