Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has revealed his educational journey nearly got truncated as a result of financial constraints his parents had to deal with at a time.

Dr. Adutwum, reveals he had to spend many hours on a cocoa farm due his parents inability to find money to pay a deposit to begin his high school education.

Speaking at the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Accra College of Education, the Education Minister, said he would not have been able to advance in his education if not for his junior brother’s advice.

According to Dr. Adutwum, his junior brother, after unsuccessful attempts to find money for his school fees, came up with the idea of selling one of their uncle’s pig in the care of his junior brother.

Their father consented to the idea and they sold the pig off to cater for his deposit to enable him attend high school at the time.

He shared, one of the principles that has helped him in his journey as an educationist is his and dedication to his profession. He said his dedication to his profession opened numerous doors for him to advance in his chosen career.

Dr. Adutwum, has thus admonished teachers to be committed to the profession and love the children they teach, for there are a lot of rewards they stand to gain.
