A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communication Team, Solomon Kusi Appiah has highlighted that while the party was in power, some of its members effectively found themselves in opposition within the party.

Speaking with Bismark Brown, affectionately known as BB, on Happy98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben show, Mr. Appiah described this phenomenon as “power in opposition.” He explained that while party communicators tirelessly defended the NPP on various platforms without any financial compensation, they were often sabotaged from within.

Mr. Appiah recounted his experience of serving as a National Communicator for the NPP for over a year without receiving a monthly stipend. He claimed this was because of allegations that he supported Kennedy Agyapong instead of the former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“Without a doubt, during my time as National Communicator, which lasted over a year, I never received any monthly stipend. This was simply because I was accused of supporting Hon. Kennedy Agyapong. Despite this, I dedicated my own resources to serve the party, but my efforts were never appreciated,” he said.

He also mentioned his appointment as the National Coordinator for Persons With Disabilities, a position he barely assumed before receiving calls from the party’s headquarters demanding his removal.

Despite these challenges, Mr. Appiah expressed confidence in enduring opposition. He emphasized that those who persevered during the party’s time in power, even when marginalized, will continue to endure in the current opposition.

“By this time next year, we trust that God will have done something significant in our lives. Though we are currently in opposition, we believe that God will guide and provide for us. Even when we were in power, some of us experienced what felt like being in ‘ power in opposition,” he added.
