On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized the importance of accelerating actions towards achieving gender equality.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Saturday, March 8, 2025, Mr. Mahama highlighted this year’s theme, “AccelerateAction,” urging the nation to implement urgent measures to close the gender gap.

He pointed to the significant strides Ghana has made in empowering women, particularly the election of the country’s first female Vice President.

“This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, calls for urgent measures to ensure that we achieve gender equality. Ghana has made some significant strides, particularly in electing its first female Vice President. Let’s build on this momentum,” he stated.

The post underscored the need for continued progress in ensuring that women have equal access to opportunities in various sectors.

Mr. Mahama called on Ghanaians to prioritize empowering women across all spheres, from education and business to politics and leadership. He further stressed that collective efforts are required to create a Ghana where every woman can realize her full potential.

“We must all prioritize empowering and uplifting women in every sphere from education and business to politics and leadership. Let’s work together to create a Ghana where every woman has the opportunity to reach her full potential,” he added.
