Veteran coach J.E Sarpong believes under-fire Black Queens coach Bashir Hayford is still the right man to handle the team.

The former Asante Kotoko gaffer has been faced with opprobrium following the Black Queens poor display in the ongoing African Women’s Championship.

Ghana failed to make the next stage of the competition after picking four points which wasn’t enough to go past Mali and Cameroon in Group A.

Many believe Bashir Hayford is to be blamed for the team’s poor display as they have called for his exit.

But Sarpong who is a friend to the former AshantiGold coach wants him to stay on.

“I think we should leave Bash to stay on because you cannot blame him for our poor display in the competition,” he told Joy FM.

“People always think he (Bash) is arrogant but if you get to know him he is a lovely person.

“We shouldn’t rush in taking any decision which will later backfire, so in my opinion i think we should keep him.”
