Ghanaian female gospel artiste Patience Nyarko has asserted that her song “Obi Nyane Me” would have been the deserving winner of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Gospel Song Of The Year Award.
Joe Mettle claimed the Gospel Song Of The Year Award at last Saturday’s Vodafone Music Awards with his “Bo Noo Ni hit single.
But speaking to DJ Advicer on Happy FM’s Ayekoo After Drive Show, Patience Nyarko expressed her belief that she should have carried home the coveted accolade.
“How can you say “Obi Nyane Me” is not popular, I don’t have anything against my brother Joe Mettle. I respect him; I even participated in campaigning for him to win the artiste of the year award during last year’s VGMA awards. But this time around, I mean…., how can you say “Obi Nyane Me” is not a popular song? She asked.
When asked if she was surprised at the turn out of the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA),
“Yes but I’m not really surprised because I’m used to the VGMA surprises. This is not the first time I’ve been nominated. I got three nominations with my first album, the second album and this one too.”
Patience was nominated for the Gospel Artiste Of The Year Award Category for Ghana Music Awards UK 2016.
