Former president, John Dramani Mahama has outlined his vision for sports ahead of his re-election bid in the 2024 presidential election.

According to John Mahama, he still stands by his 2020 election promise of giving stipends to Ghana Premier League players to compliment the efforts of struggling clubs.

The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress, while engaging the press on Sunday, July 7, 2024, said he will care for lesser known sports and give them the same attention given to football.

“Just like I said in 2020, we will pay premier league players to complement the efforts of the club and lesser known sports will be given the same attention as football.”

He added that, he will develop the various stadium infrastructure for truck and field sports while making a conscious effort to fix the terrible pitches in the country.
