The Kenyan Airports Authority has hinted on ongoing strategic plans to prevent the disruption of airport operations ahead of an incoming strike by the main aviation unit.
The strike, which is scheduled to commence on August 19, was deliberated upon by all staff and members of the Kenya Aviation Workers Union.
The decision stems from speculations of the airport proposed deal with India’s Adani Airports Holdings to develop Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya’s largest airport.
The Union worries over the possible loss of jobs and the hiring of non-Kenyan individuals to control affairs of the aviation sector.
According to reports, the Kenyan government has clarified that the airport is not for sale and that no final decision has been made on the proposed public-private partnership to upgrade the airport.
