The leadership of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) branch of the Tertiary Education Workers Union of Ghana (TEWU-GH) is preparing to suspend its ongoing strike.
The union initiated an indefinite strike on April 30, protesting the alleged exclusion of its members from KNUST’s newly formed Governing Council.
However, following discussions with the Director-General of the Tertiary Education Commission, TEWU-GH has decided to temporarily halt the protest while efforts are made to resolve the issue.
Chairman Charles Arthur announced that the final decision would be confirmed after a scheduled meeting on May 5.
He noted that both parties have agreed on a two-week period to find a resolution to the matter.
