Kojo Addae-Mensah slams journos for not helping sports heroes write biographies

Chief Executive Officer for DataBank Group, Kojo Addae-Mensah has lashed out at local journalists for not helping and encouraging our Ghanaian sports heroes to write their biographies or autobiographies as many are passing on without it.
Addae-Mensah, who was eulogizing the late Sam Arday who passed on to glory last Sunday, lamented the fact that the football tactician couldn’t document what his much revered ‘Multi System’ really meant.
Speaking on his segment on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports christened ‘Kojo’s Thoughts‘, the astute banker and avowed football enthusiast bemoaned the lack of literature from our great football coaches and players which could serve as a reference material when they are no more.
He was quick to finger journalists for not helping our heroes to write their biographies and memoirs since they are the right people to lead this exigent process.
“News of Coach Sam Arday’s demise hit me like a tsunami. I couldn’t come to terms with reality that we have lost such a great coach. What saddens me most is when I reckon that he didn’t write an autobiography to explain in detail what his ‘Multi-system’ was all about. He should have written down something for the young ones to use as a reference material. In the last couple of years, we have lost almost all our top coaches including C.K Gyamfi, Jones Attuquayefio, Ben Koufie, Osam Duodo, E.K Afranie and recently Sam Arday. Apart from Ben Koufie, I wonder if any of them was able to put his coaching ideas and philosophies into a book but I will blame journalists for this lapse. They are to take charge of this and help these heroes to write their memoirs because they are experts in writing and that’s what is done the world over.” Kojo lamented.
Addae-Mensah charged sportsmen and coaches to take the writing of their memoirs seriously since it was one of the ways of transferring the knowledge and experiences they had in the game to generations.
“In fact this is not beyond us. The Fergusons, Mourinhos and Steven Gerrards have books in their names so our people should take a cue from it. It’s depressing that all our coaching legends are dying without giving us, in writing, what they stood for; it could be how they manage pressure during games or egoistic players or even how they approach big games. All these could be lessons for the younger generation.” Kojo Addae Mensah asserted.
‘ Kojo’s Thoughts‘ is a segment on Happy FM‘s Anopa Busuo Sports where Kojo Addae-Mensah tackles pertinent sporting issues which need urgent attention to fix.
