Residents of Kokrobite in the Ga South Municipality are raising concerns over unsanitary conditions in the community, warning of a possible cholera outbreak if immediate action is not taken.
Heaps of refuse, locally referred to as bola, have been dumped in the middle of the town, creating unsafe conditions. According to residents, some individuals have resorted to open defecation on the refuse, further compounding the health risks.
Community members are appealing to the government and municipal authorities to urgently provide adequate waste bins and construct a modern toilet facility to improve sanitation.
Assembly Member for the Kokrobite Electoral Area, John Boy, has also called on the Ga South Municipal Assembly to evacuate the waste without delay. He warned that the refuse site, located at the center of the community, poses a major health hazard if left unattended.
Residents and local leaders are urging swift intervention to prevent the spread of cholera and restore proper sanitation in Kokrobite.
