Public Relations Officer of Asante Kotoko, Kennedy Boakye Ansah was irate with the refereeing as the Porcupines were knocked out of the Champions League by Etoile du Sahel.

The Tunisians overturned a 2-0 deficit from the first-leg to beat Kotok 3-0 on Sunday at home.

However, Ansah has accused Egyptian referee Ibrahim Nour El-Din of favouring the hosts throughout the game and was particularly critical of the controversial penalty he awarded the North Africans for their first goal.

“We were highly optimistic to eliminate Etoile Du Sahel but from the blanks of the whistle, we suspected a foul play,” Kennedy Boakye told reporters after the match.

“Our players were extremely discipline. All the 50/50 balls was against us. The penalty we considered was extremely harsh. It demoralized the team’s spirit.”

Despite the loss, he was proud of how Kotoko played as they exited the competition.

“But that is the beauty of football. Sometimes you don’t get what you want. We’ll take great inspiration from our motto ( kill a thousand, and a thousand will come). Kotoko will bounce back better,” he ended.
