The National Circles Chairman (NCC) of Asante Kotoko, Christopher Damenya popularly known as ‘DeChris’ in an interview with Ghana’s number one sports station, Happy FM has disclosed that the supporters of the club want Maxwell Konadu appointed as head coach of the club.

The Porcupine Warriors are without a coach after parting ways with Kjetil Zacharriassen in October after their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kotoko will have to appoint a coach with a CAF License A certificate based on the recommendations of the Club Licensing Board which mandates all Premier League clubs to appoint coaches with that certificate.

According to Christopher Damenya, in the club’s quest to appoint a new coach, the supporters have requested for Maxwell Konadu to be appointed as the new head coach of the club.

“We will all help in getting a good coach for the club. All the supporters are calling for the return of Maxwell Konadu. I will inform the Executive Chairman of the club on the preference of the supporters and if he accepts fine”, he told Happy FM.

“We will also give an input in the choosing of a coach and if he sits down with the team and they decide who is best for the club, we will give our best”, he added.

Maxwell Konadu guided Kotoko to their 23rd league title in the 2012-13 season.

Asante Kotoko has announced that a new coach will be appointed before the league kicks off on the weekend of 27-29 December, 2019.
