The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has condemned an attack on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) during an operation at Bronikrom, near Hwediem in the Ahafo Region.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, November 1, 2025, involved NAIMOS personnel who were conducting an official operation against illegal mining activities in the area.

In a statement issued by the Ministry and signed by its Media Relations Officer, Paa Kwesi Schandorf, on Monday, November 3, the Minister has been adequately briefed on the matter and has expressed grave concern over the attack.

Following the incident, Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah has engaged both the Speaker of Parliament and the Minister for the Interior to ensure that swift and rigorous investigations are conducted to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The statement highlighted government’s commitment to holding accountable all individuals who aid, support, or engage in activities that contribute to the destruction of the environment.

“This is in line with government’s commitment to bring to book all perpetrators who aid, support, or front the continuous decimation of the environment,” the statement emphasized.

The Ministry assured the public of its determination to protect the environment and ensure the safety of all officers involved in the fight against illegal mining.
