Deputy Sports Minister, Hon. Enam Hadzide has challenged a Ghanaian journalist to report him to the police for his arrest if he has evidence that he took money from any journalist to aid them secure visa to Australia.
On Saturday, April 31, Hon. Hadzide was fingered in a massive visa fraud case following reports that some Ghanain journalists who travelled to Australia for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games had been deported.
According to Australian authorities, they are not convinced by their reasons for traveling to the country.
However, speaking to Ohene Bampoe-Brenya on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Hon. Hadzide, expressed his disappointment at the false reportage which is making waves in the Ghanaian media, but indicated that the media house which originated the story has rendered an apology to him hence will not press charges against them.
“I was very furious at the originator of the story, but was called by his management to apologise and story pulled down,” Hon. Hadzide stated on Happy FM.
“If anyone can prove that I’ve taken even a cedi from him or her to award the fellow with a visa, I’m daring the fellow to report me to the police to be arrested because it’s a criminal offence.”
“It’s not in my jurisdiction to acquire visa for anybody. The ‘chef de mission’ office does that on behalf of all. Even myself and my boss’ visa was handled by the missions office” Hadzide bemoaned
