The president of the Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals (GAMP) Alhaji Yakubu Anderson has called on all Muslim Professionals to join GAMP to facilitate socio-economic development of the Muslim community.

He was speaking at the annual general meeting (AGM) of GAMP ‘’we would like to use this occasion to invite all Muslim professionals in Ghana to join us so that we aggregate our efforts in executing the agenda of promoting socio-economic development in the Muslim community. We call on the Islamic Medical Association (IMAG), the Muslim Lawyers Federation, the Association of Muslim Accountants etc. to join us he said

According to him when these Muslim professionals unite, it will enable them build a very strong Muslim Professional Group recognized for its efficiency, integrity, transparency and professionalism.

He encouraged all adult Muslims in Ghana to participate in the on-going registration by the National Identification Authority.

However, he pleaded with the NIA officers not to compel Muslim women to remove their headscarf or hijab before taking the picture, since that would constitute gross violation of their right as Muslim women.

Mr. Zakaria Tanko Musah on his part as the guest speaker encouraged the inner city or Zongo communities to engage in skills audit. ‘’I strongly advocate that the Muslim professional do a skills audit of its members and group them under different shades of professions of our intellectual persuasions to serve as the Muslim inner-city Intellectuals and professional vocal points’’ he opined.

According to Mr. Zakaria Tanko Musah, this will enable the various inner cities to put in place meaningful mentorship programs and other skills acquisition and training schemes.

The Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals (GAMP) is a non-governmental organization of Muslim intellectuals and professionals who are generally graduates of tertiary institutions.
It was formed in November 1992, and officially inaugurated on 5th February, 1994 as Ghana Muslim Academy (GMA). The current name, Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals (GAMP) was adopted by the General Assembly on 26th December, 2017.

This year’s AGM was under the theme: “Role of Muslim Professionals in National Development”.
