The Tema Community 25 Lions Club, in collaboration with the Rotary Club, has educated students of Achimota School on the dangers of drug abuse as part of their “Say No to Drug Abuse” campaign.

Speaking in an interview with Happy Kaseɛbɔ after the session, Dr. Ralph Tettey-Amlalo, President of the Tema Community 25 Lions Club and an old student of Achimota School, commended the students for their discipline and the intelligent questions during the engagement.

According to him, the campaign seeks to empower students to resist peer pressure and adopt lifestyles that support their academic success.

“We are not only focusing on schools in Accra but plan to extend this initiative to schools across the country to help curb drug abuse in Ghana,” Dr. Tettey-Amlalo added.

On his part, the Headmaster of Achimota School, Ebenezer Graham Acquah, expressed appreciation to both clubs for the initiative. He appealed for such educational engagements to be held at least once every semester, stressing that drug abuse remains a challenge among many students.

“Teachers alone cannot do it. Let’s all come together to fight drug abuse,” he said.

Some students also shared with Happy Kaseɛbɔ the lessons from the campaign, noting that it had boosted their resolve to avoid drugs and focus on their education.
