The Parliamentary Committee on Local Government and Rural Development has continued its public hearing on the 2024 audit findings of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the middle sector, focusing on the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions.
Speaking at the session, Chairperson of the Committee, Maame Pokuah Sawyer, explained that the review process is part of efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public funds allocated to local assemblies.
“Our work as a Committee is to ensure accountability in the allocation of funds to the various MMDAs,” she stated. “We serve as a checkpoint to monitor and make sure that public resources are used strictly for their intended purposes.”
The hearings saw appearances from officials representing the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions.
Also present were the Bono Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, and the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardner, who participated in the review process.
