Lockdown now or face curfew later- Kwesi Pratt advises

Ghanaian journalist and Managing Editor for the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has communicated that he is in total disagreement with the President’s decision to lift the lockdown.

According to him, health specialists have made it clear that if people are not made to stay indoors, the virus will spread and this in turn, will cause a lot of suffering and hardship thus, he is of the view that with the increase in number of cases recorded, it will only be best that the lockdown duration be extended.

Kwesi Pratt made this assertion during a phone interview with Happy FM’s Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show.

He said, “The lockdown was announced when cases were only around 200 and now it’s over 1,500, hence no matter what we do, there will be another lockdown. The President told us recently that if things don’t go well, we won’t even get a lockdown but curfew”.

Per this, he shared that what he does not seem to comprehend is the fact that we still do things that will bring about the curfew.

“If today, we go by the lockdown and it is what will keep us safe, why don’t we just observe the lockdown rather than do things than will drive us into curfew?”, he questioned.

The veteran journalist furthered that it is no secret that he is against the decision to lift the lockdown, and obviously he is not the only one with that opinion.

He continued to advise, on the President’s promise to build 88 hospitals to help in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, that a lot of lives would have already been lost by the time these hospitals will be completed, thus, the government resort to setting up tents instead, as has been done in other countries.
