The Member of Parliament for Madina, Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu, has launched an initiative to support young girls in basic schools with free sanitary pads, ensuring access to essential menstrual hygiene products to safeguard their health and keep them in school.

The distribution, which began on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, is part of a broader plan to establish a Sanitary Pad Bank for continuous support in local schools.

As part of the initiative, the MP also donated medical equipment to the Oyarifa Community Clinic, aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the area.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Sosu emphasized the significance of the interventions, highlighting their alignment with the “Mahama Cares” initiative, which seeks to equip healthcare facilities with modern tools and provide quality health services to underserved communities.

“I promise to continue supporting these clinics and all others within the Madina Municipality,” he stated, reaffirming his commitment to improving health and education outcomes in his constituency.

The initiative, he said, is in line with President John Mahama’s vision of creating a more inclusive and caring society.

Beneficiaries of the program, particularly young girls in schools visited, expressed profound gratitude for the timely support, noting that access to sanitary pads will greatly reduce absenteeism and help them stay focused on their education.

The gesture was widely praised by teachers and parents, who called for more of such interventions to empower children and support the well-being of the next generation.
