President John Dramani Mahama has nominated two individuals to serve as Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) for the Effutu and Assin Central Municipal Assemblies in the Central
Region.

The nominations are subject to approval by the respective Assemblies.

The appointments were made in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended.

A statement issued on Wednesday, May 28, by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs announced the nominees as Rev. Atta Mensah for Effutu and Gariba Adam for Assin Central. The statement was signed by the sector Minister, Ahmed Ibrahim.

It highlighted that the nominations are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local governance and decentralisation. The respective Assemblies are expected to convene soon to either confirm or reject the President’s choices in accordance with the legal framework guiding local administration in Ghana.
