President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his commitment to sustaining and enhancing the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy as part of his broader vision to improve education in Ghana.

Addressing the 92nd Annual Jalsa (Convention) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission at Pomadze in the Central Region on Thursday, January 9, 2025, he described education as the cornerstone of national progress and outlined measures aimed at ensuring quality learning for all.

He reaffirmed his plan to strengthen basic education while maintaining the Free SHS policy, emphasizing efforts to tackle overcrowding in schools to guarantee quality education across all levels. His plans also include free tuition for first-year students entering public tertiary institutions to ease financial constraints and encourage higher education enrollment.

Additionally, he committed to completing abandoned E-block projects and making strategic investments to ensure equitable access to education nationwide. His vision includes empowering the youth with skills necessary for success in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

He also stressed the importance of technical and vocational education training (TVET) as part of his strategy to develop a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of modern businesses and industries.
