President John Dramani Mahama has highlighted concern over the rising threats of terrorism in neighboring countries.

In a meeting with Mali’s Prime Minister, General Abdoulaye Maiga, President John Dramani Mahama highlighted the escalating threat of extremist groups in the region and called for enhanced regional collaboration to address the challenge.

He assured Prime Minister Maiga of Ghana’s unwavering commitment to supporting Mali and other nations in their fight against terrorism and efforts to restore peace.

President Mahama also emphasized the critical importance of prioritizing security to ensure stability across the region.

“Our security is an echelon objective, and we must work with each other to ensure that our sub-region is safe. Ghana continues to remain strong in solidarity with Mali,” he stated.

The President also addressed the geopolitical challenges facing the Sahel region, describing the persistent insurgencies and terrorist activities as an increasingly serious threat.

“It is not anything that is new, but it continues to become more severe than it was in the past,” he noted.

He emphasized the need for united efforts to confront these security challenges and bolster regional stability.
