President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to effective local governance with the renomination of four Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Greater Accra Region.
The move, announced in a statement dated May 15, 2025, is in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended.
The four nominees—Ignatius Godfred Dordoe (Shai Osudoku District Assembly), Rudolph Collingwoode-Williams (Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly), Michael Mensah (Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly), and Alfredos Nii Anyetei (La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly)—are expected to be vetted and approved by their respective Assemblies in the coming weeks.
In the official press release signed by Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, the renomination was described as a strategic decision aimed at enhancing continuity in leadership and advancing development at the local level.
