The Black Stars, Ghana’s national football team, have received a significant boost with a renewed sponsorship from the KGL Group, a leading Ghanaian-owned conglomerate. The two-year deal, valued at GHS 20 million, underscores KGL’s commitment to the development of sports and their belief in the unifying power of football within the nation.

The announcement of this partnership follows calls from national leaders, including the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, and a rallying cry from President John Dramani Mahama to “bring back the love” for the Black Stars. Their collective efforts encouraged corporate Ghana to play a greater role in advancing sports development.

At the official signing ceremony, KGL Group’s Executive Chairman, Alex Apau Dadey, emphasized that this sponsorship goes beyond a simple business transaction. He stated that it’s a core part of answering a national call to action and a reflection of KGL’s belief in sports as a fundamental force for national transformation, fostering discipline, unity, and pride.

Mr. Dadey expressed his pride in contributing to Ghana’s sporting journey and being part of the movement to restore belief in the Black Stars. He also thanked key figures like Kofi Adams and President John Dramani Mahama for their instrumental roles in making the partnership a reality.

Beyond their support for the Black Stars, KGL Group has also demonstrated a commitment to grassroots development through their KGL Foundation, which sponsors the Inter-Regional U-17 Colts Championship. This initiative provides opportunities for young talent across Ghana, creating a vital pipeline for future national teams.

Both the Minister of Sports and the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, lauded KGL Group’s continued investment in Ghanaian football. They expressed their gratitude and optimism for the positive impact this partnership will have on the Black Stars’ journey and the overall growth of the sport in Ghana.

As KGL Group embarks on this renewed chapter with the Black Stars, their commitment is rooted in a deep sense of national pride and a clear vision to help propel Ghanaian sports onto the global stage.
