Chief Executive of the Youth Employment Agency, Malik Basintale has urged for the expansion of local language translations as part of Fly Africa’s flight protocols.

Basintale’s remarks stem from his on-board experience on a flight from Kumasi to Accra, which had messages delivered by the pilot at the point of departure translated into Asante Twi. “I’m sure this was done because the plane had left the powerful land of the Ashanti Kingdom and hence the need to get all abridged considering the language barrier (if any).”

Despite commendations awarded by the YEA head to the airline, Basintale in a post on X questioned the absence of translators during a trip he previously made from Tamale to Accra. “In recent past, I also boarded your flight from Tamale to Accra but didn’t witness same translation into the local language…”

Per his observation, not all passengers understand the message conveyed by the pilots in English and urged for the introduction of translators in all local airline flights for effective communication and compliance. “I am by this calling for same beautiful translation into the local languages of areas you use, to help in the language barrier since I sometimes find some persons unable to comprehend what instructions are being given at some point.” he intimated.
