Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin has been caught on tape hitting and insulting a uniformed police officer during the “Save The Judiciary” Demonstration.

The NPP on Monday, May 5, 2025, took to the principal streets of Accra to protest against the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo by president John Dramani Mahama.

With several issues being raised, the most trending video from the demonstration is the moment where Afenyo Markin was seen verbally and physically assaulting a police officer who was in uniform.

In the viral video sighted by Happyghana.com, Afenyo-Markin was seen hitting the head of the police officer and referring to him as a fool in the local dialect.

The video showed Afenyo Markin visibly upset. It is however not clear, what led to his physical altercation with the police officer who was behind the barricade.

Afenyo Markin was held back by Richard Ahigbah, the Communications Director of the NPP who tried to deescalate the situation.
