The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has revealed that men contribute to the majority of road accidents recorded in Ghana.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Authority, Pearl Adusei Sateckla, reckless driving, speeding, drink-driving, and failure to adhere to traffic regulations are the leading causes of crashes with male drivers accounting for a higher (80%) percentage of these incidents.
She warned that the trend is alarming and calls for urgent behavioral change among road users, especially men, who dominate commercial and private vehicle operations in the country.
Road accidents remain one of Ghana’s most critical public health concerns, claiming thousands of lives annually and leaving many others injured. NRSA has reiterated its appeal to drivers to prioritize safety, exercise discipline, and respect traffic laws to reduce fatalities.
