The Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, together with its partners, is intensifying efforts to eliminate child labour in the Western North Region.

As part of activities marking the 2025 World Day Against Child Labour, the Ministry, in collaboration with the National Steering Committee on Child Labour and other stakeholders, held a sensitisation event in Bibiani, in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality. This year’s commemoration ran under the theme “Progress is clear but there is more to do — let’s speed up.”

Addressing the gathering, Chief Labour Officer Dawuda Ibrahim Braimah urged parents, guardians, and community members to stop engaging children in hard labour. He stressed that children must not be forced to carry out difficult tasks that exceed their physical and mental capacity.

The Ministry says it will continue working with local communities, civil society, and development partners to ensure that every child is protected and given access to quality education.

Meanwhile, other stakeholders at the event pledged their full support to the Ministry’s campaign. They promised to work hand-in-hand to reduce child labour and enhance the welfare of children across the region.
