
The Minority in Parliament has called for the immediate suspension of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company, PMMC , Sammy Gyamfi, following his involvement in a widely circulated video in which he handed an undisclosed sum of US dollars to evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng Asiamah, popularly known as Agradaa.
Despite issuing an apology, he has been summoned by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah in response to mounting public backlash.
At a press conference on Monday, May 12, 2025, Dr. Kabiru Tia Mahama, Member of Parliament for Walewale and a member of the Finance Committee, urged the President to take swift action, citing violations of the Forex Exchange Act and the Currency Act.
“The Minority is calling for the immediate suspension of Sammy Gyamfi as Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board. His actions violate the Code of Conduct and Ghana’s financial laws”.
The Minority has also called for a full-scale investigation into the source of the dollar currencies seen in the viral video.
“We demand a thorough investigation into the origin of the funds displayed”.
