Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Ada, has disclosed that the chaos during Thursday’s vetting session is part of a larger plan by the Minority.

She argued that the Minority on the Appointments Committee is seeking an opportunity for retaliation, following the revelations made by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Kwabena Mintah Akandoh about the shortcomings of the previous government.

Speaking in an interview she said, “We were told Okudzeto’s vetting would take two days and Akandoh a full day. So when the process was delayed into the night, it wasn’t favorable. If it had been any other nominee, there wouldn’t have been any problem because Parliament works late into the night, and it’s no news”.

The Minority suggested postponing the vetting to Friday, raising concerns about the day’s proceedings.

However, the Majority rejected the proposal, insisting the process proceed as planned, which led to a heated exchange.

In protest against any delay, Minority members caused a disruption, breaking tables and microphones.

The Ada MP called on the Minority to be patient, stressing the importance of working together.

“We don’t want to be perceived as intimidating the Minority. Instead, we want to carry them along because we have the numbers and can whip our caucus into line. Even if someone is sick, we will carry the person to the chamber, and there is nothing they (Minority)can do,” she added.
