Kwame Agyeman, a victim in the missing excavators and mining equipment saga has revealed that he spotted at Ayawaso West Wuogon during the last by-election.

Vehicles and mining machinery seized during the activities of the operation Vanguard including excavators reportedly went missing from the site where they were kept.

This was revealed by the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation and Chairperson for the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng when he made an official complaint to the police for investigation.

Some owners of these vehicles have tracked the excavators and other vehicles to Navrongo, Beposo, Tarkwa Nsuaem and Tema with the help of tracking devices they had installed on the vehicles.

Speaking to in an interviuew, Kwame Agyeman whose Mitsubishi pick-up was seized in an operation by the officials of the Operation Vanguard in Wassa in the Western Region recounted how his pick-up was mistaken for a mining vehicle and was detained by the Operation Vanguard in Wassa.

He, however, noted that checks by the Police revealed that his vehicle was not involved in illegal mining and so the court ordered that his Pick-up be released to him.
He added that the car was nowhere to be found after the court ruling.

“Upon further interrogations, I was told personally by Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng that my vehicle was part of the vehicles sent to Ayawaso West Wuogon to aid campaign in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election so I should go there and look for my car”, he added.
