Story By: Peter Nanor

Mondo Duplantis has done it yet again, delivering an exceptional performance that can only be described as “Heaven on Earth” at the 2023 Prefontaine Classic, which served as the Wanda Diamond League finals in Eugene at Hayward Field.

Setting and breaking world records is almost second nature to the Pole vault champion, and he added another remarkable achievement in Eugene. His fourth vault of the day garnered a resounding ovation for his spectacular 6.23m Pole vault world record jump.

Mondo’s character, unwavering consistency, and track record were all he needed to establish yet another world record at the Wanda Diamond League finals. His Pole vault jumps propelled him higher and higher, leaving spectators in awe of what they termed a “Heaven On Earth” performance.

Just 14 months after holding a world record, Mondo now boasts a new world record, setting another milestone in his illustrious career. For Mondo, Pole vault is more than a sport; it’s a way of life, and this record is securely held in his vaults.
