The Muslim community in Gomoa Akoti, in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, recently concluded their month-long fasting and prayers for Ramadan with a call for positive change among the youth and an urgent plea for improved amenities in the area.

During the final prayers at the Gomoa Akoti Central Mosque, Imam Abubakar Bashiru Yandu passionately urged the Zongo youth to shun drug abuse.

Addressing concerns about substance misuse, the Imam highlighted the devastating consequences drugs can have on the human body, including fatal health risks and the potential to derail lives.

He described drug abuse as a destructive habit that should not be normalized in the daily activities of the youth, stressing the need for moral and spiritual discipline.

The Imam’s message underscores the importance of nurturing a healthy and productive community.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Sarki Osman Yandu, the youth leader of the Kasoa-Bissa community, turned attention to a pressing local water crisis plaguing Gomoa Akoti Zongo.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, he called on the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Desmond Kwesi Paitoo, to prioritize addressing the lack of access to clean water.

He emphasized how this persistent challenge has affected the quality of life for residents and expressed hope for immediate government intervention.

The gathering was not only a time for spiritual reflection but also a platform to voice communal concerns, reinforcing the dual role of religious and civic leadership in advocating for progress and well-being.
