The Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has pledged his commitment to creating more job opportunities as part of efforts to tackle the rising unemployment rate in Ghana.

Speaking to members of the Youth Employment Agency at the agency’s headquarters in Accra on Monday, January 27 after his appointment, Basintale expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for entrusting him with the role. He assured the public that he would work diligently to justify the confidence placed in him.

Basintale highlighted the urgency of addressing youth unemployment, emphasizing that it poses a significant threat to national security. He affirmed that his primary objective as Acting CEO is to create sustainable jobs to improve the livelihoods of young people across the country.

“So I have one mandate and like I’ve said to the Directors, and is to create jobs for the unemployed youth. Unemployment is virtually a high security situation in any country and so if we fail to create jobs the young men and women out there will go up in arms and we the employed will suffer the consequences,” he said.

He further called on Ghanaians and members of the YEA to rally behind him and President Mahama’s administration, stating that their support would be instrumental in achieving transformative governance and impactful results.
