Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan has said that he gets flashbacks of the penalty he missed against Uruguay in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The countrys’ all-time leading goal scorer failed to convert a late penalty to send Ghana to the semi-final of the competition in South Africa.
According to the Kayserispor striker, anytime he gets flashbacks of the moment anytime he is alone because he disappointed Africa.
He, however, revealed that memories of the miss will continue to scare him up until he ends his career in football.
The 32-year-old indicated that he takes consolation from the fact that he was courageous enough to score during the penalty shootout after the game had ended 1:1.
Gyan who was speaking to the BBC said Ghana’s inability to qualify for this year’s World Cup has been a blow to both players and the citizens of the country. He called for support for African teams representing at the World Cup because they are representing the whole continent.
