Official Disc Jockey for Y107.9FM’s Weekend Rush, Mz Orstin was given the Outstanding DJ Performance award at the just ended second edition of Ghana’s favorite DJ battle, Y Clash of the DJs.

Mz Orstin represented Y107.9FM’s YVengers to battle against YFM Takoradi’s Hot Squad and YFM Kumasi’s Killa Squad in the Made in Ghana category and Afrobeat categories out of which she proved worthy for the Outstanding DJ Performance award.

She received a cash prize of thousand Ghana Cedis among other prizes for the feat she achieved with just 5minutes of play on the turntables in each category.

DJ Andy, although he was not fully impressed with her song combination in the Made in Ghana category, still loved her mixing game and was even more blown away by her play in the Afrobeats category.
This is what he had to say about Mz Orstin’s ‘Made in Ghana’ category performance: “I had a little problem with the genre. In my opinion, it was more of hiphop than made in Ghana. If a hiphop song is recorded in Ghana or France or in China, it doesn’t make the genre. I would’ve expected to have heard the songs with more rhythm like the competitors played so that was the little observation that I made but aside that, she did very well”.

Reggie and DJ Blow also congratulated her saying that she had done a good job and that she deserved the award.

Emma Wenani, Chief Director of GMABC, said, “They say that what men can do, women can do better and Mz Orstin really proved that on the turntables today. Even if you were just listening to the programme, you could always tell when Mz Orstin was on and for that outstanding performance, this award could not have gone to anyone else. We thank our judges for accepting to be here with us and for helping us crown our deserved winners. We also say a big thank you to EBG Credit for supporting our cause with these awards and cash prizes”.

The judges for the event were Reggie Rockson, DJ Blow and Andy Krim. Foster Romanus host of e.TV Ghana’s LNCS was the MC for the night.

The event was sponsored by Storm Energy Drink, Airport View Hotel, Accra Mall, Cheezy Pizza, Dear Dough, Whoopro, PMI Print House, Perception Management International and Global Media Alliance.

Media partners of Y Clash of the DJs were YFM, eTV Ghana, Happy FM, Daily Guide, Guide Radio, Ghanaweb and Business & Financial Times.
