The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B has criticised comments made by Felix Kwakye Ofosu regarding LGBTQ+ issues, describing them as disappointing and an insult to Ghanaians.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Thursday, April 9, he expressed concern over the assertion that LGBTQ+ matters are “not a priority for Ghanaians,” arguing that such a position undermines the views and concerns of many citizens.
He further accused John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress of previously using LGBTQ+ issues as a political tool during the 2024 election campaign to gain electoral advantage.
Mr. Boakye stated that dismissing the issue as unimportant disregards the perspectives of religious leaders, including clergy and imams, as well as the broader Ghanaian public.
He emphasised that leadership requires confronting sensitive national matters with clarity, courage, and consistency, rather than dismissing them.
He added that if the current government cannot uphold the positions it promoted while seeking power, then it owes the nation an apology.
