Nancy O. Campbell Thompson has once again made her mark against under-representation of women in educational leadership as she rises to be the chair of a 13-member University of Cape Coast (UCC) Governing Council comprising ten males and three females. Mrs. Nancy O.Campbell was appointed by the President of Ghana represented by the Minister of Education on the 8th of October, 2019.

The 13-member council comprises of only three females namely Dr. Mrs. Ernestina Fredua Anto, Mrs.Joseph Connel and Mrs. Nancy O.Campbell Thompson who is to lead the Governing Council.

Her leadership in the UCC Governing Council is very remarkable as this proves that women can greatly contribute to the educational system in leadership positions. She has served as the Chairperson of UCC Governing Council for two consecutive years and she has recently been reconstituted as the Chairperson of the UCC Governing Council.

Mrs. Nancy O. Campbell is an alumna of the University of Cape coast .She was a student of the school from 1964-1968.

The Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Opoku Prempeh charged the Governing Council to identify problems and provide attainable solutions to the problems facing the school.

“It is the expectation of Government that your leadership would not be one that only identifies problems but also proposes workable solutions. The solutions you would propose must be those that would ultimately help the University achieve its goals and promote an atmosphere of peace on campus to enable the smooth running of the university”, he said.

He also admonished them to work diligently to justify the confidence that the President has in them.
