The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has been officially sworn in as the new Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Joining him on the GPHA Board is Professor Ransford Gyampo, the acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority, who was also sworn in as a board member.
Their appointments are part of the government’s strategy to enhance governance and leadership within the GPHA and reinforce Ghana’s maritime infrastructure development agenda.
As the key institution overseeing the country’s seaports, GPHA plays a pivotal role in facilitating international trade. The new leadership is expected to spearhead critical reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency, boosting revenue generation, and positioning Ghana as a leading maritime hub in the West African subregion.
Stakeholders are hopeful that the combined experience of the new appointees will contribute to the Authority’s mission of making Ghana’s ports globally competitive.
