The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially opened nominations for its parliamentary primaries in the Tamale Central Constituency, following the passing of the Member of Parliament Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed in the August 6 helicopter crash.

In a statement signed by General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party announced that nomination forms will be available at the NDC Northern Regional Office from Friday, August 22, to Sunday, August 24.

Per the guidelines, nomination forms cost GH₵5,000, while filing fees are pegged at GH₵40,000. However, female aspirants and persons with disabilities are entitled to a 50% discount on the filing fee. A certified list of delegates will be issued to aspirants after the vetting process.

Meanwhile, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has disclosed earlier of its intent not present a candidate in the by-election as a mark of respect for the late MP.
