NDC vows to support and sustain successful initiatives

NDC proposes 5% GDP investment in science and technology to drive national development Professor of Physics at the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse of has outlined the the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) commitment to advancing science and technology in Ghana. She said the NDC has committed to allocating 5% of Ghana's GDP to research. Speaking on behalf of the party’s presidential candidate at the Presidential Dialogue on Science, Technology, and Innovation, organized by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), she outlined the NDC’s plan to invest significantly in both basic and applied sciences. According to Prof. Klutse, the NDC’s manifesto lays out a clear strategy for enhancing Ghana’s scientific capabilities, with a specific focus on creating a dedicated research fund. This fund, distinct from the current research allowances received by academics, will be operationalized to support science research across the country. The research fund is designed to direct research efforts toward addressing national needs, particularly by transforming natural resources into valuable products for the benefit of the economy. The NDC aims to ensure that science, technology, and innovation are prioritized in Ghana’s development agenda.
