The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Spokesperson on Business Development, Hajia Saajida Shiraz has emphasized that the next NDC-led administration will prioritize boosting Ghana’s business sector through its innovative 24-hour economy initiative. Speaking at the Second Edition of the NDC 2024 Manifesto Sectoral Press Briefing on September 3 at the party’s headquManifes in Adabraka, Accra. she highlighted the importance of creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

According to Hajia Shiraz, a reliable power supply is crucial for sustaining businesses, and the NDC government will make this a top priority. She also unveiled the “Made in Ghana Agenda,” an initiative aimed at promoting local goods through a nationwide public awareness campaign. This campaign will educate Ghanaians on the benefits of patronizing locally produced goods, thereby boosting demand and supporting Ghanaian businesses.

In addition, Hajia Shiraz announced that the NDC administration will abolish several taxes that have burdened businesses, including the COVID-19 tax, E-levy, and bet tax. The NDC says small businesses will enjoy a two-year tax holiday, enabling them to invest and grow without the burden of taxes. This measure will help stimulate entrepreneurship and job creation.

Hajia Shiraz also highlighted the NDC’s commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs through the establishment of the Women Development Bank. This initiative will provide interest-free loans to women, reducing the financial burden on them and enabling them to grow their businesses.

An NDC administration, according to the party, will provide free vocational and entrepreneurship training for the youth, equipping them with the skills needed to start their own businesses and reduce unemployment. By implementing these initiatives, the NDC government believes it can create a thriving business environment that will drive economic growth and prosperity for all Ghanaians.
