The National Labour Commission (NLC) has secured an interim order of injunction against workers of the Ghana Highway Authority to call off their strike action.

The interim injunction by the High Court in Accra restricts the workers from continuing their strike which started on Tuesday November 12, 2024.

“IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the Respondent, whether by their Executives, Officers, Members, Agents, Servants, Employees and other Persons are restrained from further continuation of the industrial strike action commenced on 12th November, 2024”.

The court further ordered workers of the Ghana Highway Authority to comply with the directives of the National Labour Commission to halt the strike action.

“ it is hereby further ordered that the Respondent are to comply with the directives of the National Labour Commission dated 6th November, 2024 and call off the industrial strike action”.

The Court however added that, the application by the National Labour Commission is granted for 10 days.

“The application is granted for 10 days and upon its expiration the Applicant will have to come back to court on notice”.

Workers of the Ghana Highway Authority on Monday November 11, 2024 announced its plans to strike indefinitely following plans by government to merge the department of Feeder roads and Urban roads to reduce autonomy.

The workers also demanded the removal of key officials of which the National Labour Commission called on them to halt the strike.

NLC requested the workers to follow due processes as negotiations with them were ongoing.
