The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned the detention of Kofi Ofosu Nkansah by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), describing it as unlawful, arbitrary, and an abuse of power.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, the NPP questioned how an individual who voluntarily appeared to assist investigations could be detained at an undisclosed location without his lawyers being informed.
According to the party, the NIB compelled Ofosu Nkansah to leave his seriously ill father in Kumasi and travel to Accra, where his residence was allegedly raided by armed officials.
“The culture of harassment can no longer be tolerated. If the President is serious about protecting our democracy, he cannot remain silent in the face of such flagrant abuse of power,” the statement read.
The NPP has demanded the immediate release of Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, emphasizing the need to uphold the principles of free speech and democratic governance.
