Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has begun a two-day campaign tour of the Central Region today, Monday, 29 September.

The tour forms part of his bid to secure re-election as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

During the tour, Dr. Bawumia is expected to meet regional and constituency executives to discuss the NPP’s strategy and readiness for the next polls. He will also pay courtesy calls on traditional leaders and interact with grassroots supporters and opinion leaders.

Party officials describe the Central Region as a crucial battleground for 2028, noting that the engagements are designed to strengthen his support base and address concerns of local party structures.

According to his campaign team, the tour is an important step in maintaining momentum and energising the grassroots.

Supporters in the region have welcomed his visit with excitement, pointing to his accessibility and experience as key qualities that make him the most formidable candidate to lead the NPP into the next general election.
