NPP has no women in party leadership-Abigail Mensah says

A former aspirant to the Fanteakwa South seat in the Eastern Region on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC); Abigail Elorm Mensah, has taken a swipe at the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for not showing commitment to women’s development in the party.
She claimed the NPP has no single woman in the leadership affairs of the party which is a clear indication the party is not committed to the development of women in the structure of the party.
Miss Elorm Mensah made this comment on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted by Kwame Afrifa-Mensah on Accra-based Happy FM.
She indicated that the NDC and the commitment of the late president John Evans Atta-Mills is unparalleled to the NPP.
According to her, the NDC’s commitment to the development of women is way ahead of the NPP.
The NDC’s commitment to women issues is so far, so good and the NPP come no near that she posited.
She added that in the NDC women are seen as partners and not threats to the men.
She maintained that it is only in the NDC where one can make mention of women in the leadership role of the party.
The NDC has two women who attend Functional Executives Committee (FEC) meetings and they are elected members unlike the NPP she stressed.
