Some NPP MPs have revived their calls for removal of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta. However, the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu says the said MPs would have to take a decision on Finance Minister,

Last year, more than 100 NPP MPs sparked controversy by calling for the president’s cousin to be fired.

After lengthy discussions, the president agreed to comply with their request after the IMF agreement was finalized.

The Minister continues in his position even after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved Ghana’s $3 billion bailout.

However, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Leader has said that in order to decide how to proceed with the minister’s fate, the full majority caucus must engage.

“The KenMustGo uprising, that one it has to be determined by the caucus so let’s leave it to what determination that the Caucus comes to,” he said.

He also noted that if the decision-making becomes necessary, they would have to meet with the president on the matter.

According to him, although it is “sometimes good to let sleeping dogs lie’, we should also consider the fact that the engagement with the IMF is over.”
