The Director of Finance and Acting Director of Communication of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Suhum Constituency, Augustine Odei, has dismissed allegations circulating online that he sold an immigration recruitment slot for ₵25,000.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 31, Mr. Odei described the claims made in a viral video by one Samuel Baah, also known as Gosh as false, malicious, and calculated to tarnish his reputation.
According to him, the video, which features an unidentified voice purported to be a family member, falsely alleges that he sold an immigration slot purportedly allocated by the Constituency Executive Committee for the Akorabo Zone.
Mr. Odei categorically denied any involvement in the alleged act, stressing that there has never been any discussion or record of such a decision by the 17-member committee, which included the then Member of Parliament, Kwadjo Asante.
“I have absolutely no knowledge or involvement in this false and baseless claim,” he stated, challenging Gosh to produce evidence be it a recording, chat, or any communication supporting the allegations.
He further alleged that the video forms part of a broader attempt to discredit him and his political efforts, particularly after what he described as the collapse of the Kennedy Agyapong campaign in Suhum due to his “vigorous and principled campaign” in support of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Mr. Odei disclosed that the matter has been referred to his lawyers for appropriate legal action against those behind the video.
He also advised delegates and party members to remain vigilant, warning that more falsehoods and fabricated stories may emerge as the party’s internal politics intensify.
